EQUAL RIGHTS
When we focused only on lady parts last Valentine’s Day, our readers raised an outcry over our obvious gender bias—with good cause: Don’t men need undies, too? Properly chastised, we present 14 eco-friendly briefs, boxers, and trunks for readers of the male persuasion—and the men and women who love them—from a wearable version of the Kama Sutra to modern loincloths that take the term “banana hammock” quite literally.

Hi there. I’m the founder of Five Bamboo, a bamboo lyocell apparel company, and an avid reader of Ecouterre. I was bummed to see that you feature bamboo viscose briefs but don’t highlight any lyocell briefs in this spread. As I’m sure you know, the majority of the bamboo apparel currently available on the market today is produced via the viscose process, which is chemically-intensive and produces harmful byproducts. Five Bamboo chooses to make our products from bamboo fiber produced via the closed-loop lyocell process. Throughout the process, no harmful chemicals are used and no toxic gases are released. We believe that increasing the amount of bamboo lyocell products available on the market today will lead to a significant reduction in the apparel industry’s impact on the environment–wouldn’t that be sweet?! I’d love it if you checked out our website and contacted me with any questions. Thanks!
