A rising star in Vancouver’s burgeoning eco-fashion scene, Nicole Bridger has been on an upward trajectory since she graduated from Toronto’s Ryerson University with a degree in fashion design. Before she struck it out on her own in 2007, Bridger apprenticed with the legendary Vivienne Westwood in London. Later, the Canadian native returned home to collaborate with Chip Wilson of Lululemon to create Oqoqo, a line of yogawear made from sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, bamboo, and soy.
Bridger’s eponymous collection, which juxtaposes easy basics with runway-ready looks, features the same earth-conscious fabrics and low-impact dyes she cut her teeth on. And it’s the designer’s roots that she’s returning to for fall, as she dusts off the signature loose silhouettes from her stint at Oqoqo. “The Way We Wore” brings together oversized layering pieces, floaty dresses, crisp button-down blouses, and fitted cardigans, which she ties together in a moody palette of navy, sage, cream, and charcoal.
