Picking a single winner of the “DIY With IOU” competition proved impossible, so we chose three. Drumroll, please…

THRICE AS NICE
Congratulations to: Lisa Linhardt of Linhardt Design, Tara St. James of Study NY, and Aga Śmiechowska of Vyosna, each of whom will produce their design as part of the IOU Project’s “Made in NYC” capsule collection, featured at a trunk show hosted by ABC Carpet & Home, and sold on Fab.com.
The winning designs will be produced as part of the IOU Project’s “Made in NYC” collection and sold on Fab.com.
“Choosing one [winner] was impossible as it was clear that pretty much everyone had really put in their all into creating the pieces,” Kavita Parmar, founder and creator of the IOU Project, tells Ecouterre. “FInally after much debate we narrowed it down to three—we could have picked six or seven easily—as we felt they represented the three important ideas behind IOU: be brave and question, be authentic and yourself, be honest and simple.”
We’d also like to extend a special shout-out to Francisca Pineda, who bagged the Ecouterre Readers’ Choice Award and a $50 swatch certificate for Source4Style.
In addition to Parmar, the panel of judges included Benita Singh and Summer Rayne Oakes (co-founders, Source4Style), Vivian Weng (director of fashion, Fab.com), Alysia Reiner (actress), Izabella Miko (actress), VV Brown (singer/songwriter), Erica Domesek (founder, P.S. I Made This), Kate Dillon (model), and Erica Wolf (Save the Garment Center).
