Ashton Kutcher wants to make over the humble T-shirt. The actor-entrepreneur, together with pals Ryan Donahue and Matt Lowe, has developed a line of the luxury basics designed to “refine the notion” of the quintessential American garment. Launched late August, Pickwick & Weller offers a selection of styles, cuts, and sizes for both men and women. (True to Kutcher’s Silicon Valley leanings, the collection is available online only.) But the line waves the flag for the red, white, and blue in more ways than one: Each piece is sourced and produced in Los Angeles from 100 percent American-grown cotton and Tencel.
A BETTER T-SHIRT
Pickwick & Weller isn’t just in the business of designing well-made wardrobe staples. The brand also seeks to provide a high-end customer experience through its “try at home” service. Simply take a “style assessment” quiz, or choose up to three different T-shirts, and Pickwick & Weller will mail you a gift box of options to try out at home, gratis. Keep the styles you like or send back the items you’re not interested—shipping and returns are completely free.

And the inspiration behind the company’s name? You can credit Charles Dickens, who brought the characters of Samuel Pickwick and his valet, Sam Weller, to life in The Pickwick Papers. “Men of both luxury and necessity, we chose Pickwick & Weller as a permanent reminder of our values and vision,” Kutcher and company say.
