Simple. Soft. Natural. Minimal. Organic. Feminine. Today, our world is filled with endless filters and editing – it’s nearly impossible to find anything that hasn’t been retouched or altered. BASE Range (short for Basic Aesthetic for Sustainable Easywear) thought it was time to create a line of under and easy wear in soft silhouettes focusing on real beauty, naturally untouched. Base Range creates high quality under and easy wear with natural fibers, such as bamboo and organic cotton. Minimal, yet innovative, designs result in products that benefit both the producer and consumer while simultaneously minimizing its impact on the environment.
One major focus of BASE Range is a promise to be as transparent as possible to the end user.
Designer Marie Louise Mogensen tells Ecouterre, “Sustainability can so often become so much about marketing and telling the story. We try our best to be transparent. We want our customer to know what they are buying.”
Determining the scope of each season’s product line is less about trends and more about instinct. “It’s a mix between the feeling we want our collection to have and the techniques and the fabrics the factories we work with are developing.”
Development of the aspects of each collection relies heavily on the experienced factories BASE Range utilizes to create their products.
Working with smaller factories enables the designer to develop a business relationship but also a personal relationship with each individual. Instead of just pushing out a product, “we really value if we can build lasting relationships within our work and take the time to develop things together.”
When asked about the future of BASE Range, Mogensen hopes to simply “be better.” “Becoming better at what we do and learning new ways for our work, too.”
BASE range hopes to continue to innovate without focusing so much on the end product. A commitment to sustainability is a priority however, and Mogensen is clear that innovation is not just about the design but finding new ways to dye clothes and sourcing new sustainable fabrics or methods.
Mogensen hopes that people view BASE Range as a company that “makes clothes that make a woman feel comfortable in whatever she is doing.”
