Gallery: Benetton Shows “True Colors,” Commits to Toxic-Free Fashion

Looks like 13 is Greenpeace’s lucky number. In response to the environmental group’s “Detox” campaign, Benetton became the 13th global retailer to make a “credible commitment” to eliminate all releases of hazardous chemicals throughout its entire global supply chain and products by 2020. The Italian brand pledged on Wednesday to disclose discharge data from 30 of their global suppliers, including all of their facilities, by the end of 2013. It has also promised to eliminate all perfluorinated chemicals, a class of toxic chemicals used primarily to repel water and oil in outerwear, before the close of 2015.
