Brooks Brothers Goes Back to School With U.S.-Made Collegiate Neckties

As far as apparel labels go, Brooks Brothers is as preppy as you can get. But the air around that bastion of garbadine trousers and cable-knit sweater-vests is about to get a whole lot more rarified—15 times more, in fact—with its new line of alma-mater-touting neckties. Part of the “Collegiate Collection” launching today, the woven silk ties have one home advantage: They’re stitched in the company’s Long Island City factory in New York. Featuring logos and insignias from 15 schools, including Columbia University, Princeton University, New York University, and the University of Notre Dame, the initial rollout will retail for $79.50 apiece.

Its too bad they don’t offer a version that is cruelty free. I don’t fancy cooking hundreds of insects to death in order to get the fabric for my tie.
