New York Fashion Week was in full swing last week, and while some gathered at the tents, those of us looking for truly innovative, cutting-edge eco-fashion headed to NOW Showcase in Chelsea. This cooperative lineup of emerging fashion talent featured some of our favorites like SDN, Naturevsfuture, Angelrox, Jai Active Wear, Turk + Taylor, She-Bible, Sust, Kelly Lane, Ryann, Feral Childe, Chulette, and Linda Loudermilk. Which is why we snuck a video camera into the GreenShows at New York Fashion Week to bring you some of the best moments from the front row. Plus, we ambushed designers Samantha Pleet, Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart of Vaute Couture, Melissa Kirgan and Xing-Zhen Chung-Hilyard of Eko-Lab, JoAnn Berman, and Lizz Wasserman of Popomomo to get the inside scoop on their favorite looks. At the Deux FM runway show during New York Fashion Week’s the GreenShows, fans of the cheesy model reality show America’s Next Top Model were treated to a fun surprise as two finalists from Cycle 13 (the “petite” season) walked the runway: Laura Kirkpatrick and Jennifer An, who placed second and third, respectively. (Nicole Fox took the season’s top honor, in case you weren’t paying attention.)
