At Ecouterre, we run into a lot of high-tech fashion: LED eyelashes, running pants that power your iPod, cassette-tape fedoras that play music. Don’t get us wrong, we love our gadgetry, but sometimes we crave simplicity. Gale Parker’s new boutique and clothing line, Clothespin, hits the spot with classic silhouettes, sprightly prints, and perfectly fussed-over details made from vintage fabrics from around the world.

MOTHER OF REINVENTION
Parker has been in the fashion world for more than 30 years. Once a muse for Valentino and Yves St. Laurent, she first hit the scene in the pages of Vogue as a teenager. After becoming the youngest editor at Vogue, spending some time at Halston, and then most recently heading up women’s design at Ralph Lauren, Parker has reinvented herself as a “shoppe owner” who reincarnates discarded fabrics into beautiful, modern clothing.

The one-of-a-kind pieces you’ll find at Clothespin are handcrafted from vintage, unworn rayon fabrics that Parker sources from around the world, then finished off with organic yarn, antique lace, and vintage French buttons. In the store, you’ll find an array of dresses, blouses, and skirts—17 styles in all—but if you don’t see what you want, you can mix and match fabrics and silhouettes and have a piece made to order that is just as unique as you are.
