Held at The Grove on Earth Day, the event celebrated the national rollout of Dasani’s new eco-packaging, which despite being part plant, is as recyclable as its 100 percent PET counterpart. Seven concept outfits were presented, each one hand-crafted on site by Yotam Solomon, who was named L.A.’s top young designer by Styelist this month. “It’s all about inspiration and it’s a pleasure to create designs made out of greenery for today’s Earth Day celebration,” Solomon says.

Since the PlantBottle debuted in 2009, Coca-Cola estimates it has eliminated the equivalent of 30,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide, or 3 million gallons of gasoline used to produce traditional PET bottles.

Although Ecouterre has never been a fan of bottled water—our fellow environmentalists are already calling foul—we’re not so blinkered as to ignore a packaging breakthrough’s promise. But that’s a post for a different blog.
