Just because you’re riding a bike doesn’t mean you have to encase yourself in Lycra. Dashing Tweeds has a range of dapper tweed outfits, including suits for men and capes for women, that are more British dandy than Lance Armstrong. Woven locally in London, its reflective and water-repellent “Lumatwill” range keeps urban pedal-pushers safe at night without compromising that fine tailored look we love. Hello handsome reflective cycling wear, goodbye ugly yellow vest.
DRESSED TO THRILL
Founded by photographer Guy Hills and weaver Kirsty McDougall, Dashing Tweeds draws inspiration from the colors of London, from the “wet pavements of Piccadilly to the green parks of St. James.” The rugged urban tweeds cheekily take their cues from the city’s double yellow lines and red routes, incorporating the striking hues into checks, pinstripes, and waves.

For nocturnal cyclists, select tweeds are available in Lumatwill, a special blend of traditional worsted wool and reflective filaments that only lights up after dark. The company’s hats, bags, jackets, trousers and waistcoats, as well as complete three-piece suits, make up a Jekyll-and-Hyde wardrobe that will serve to keep you safe and stylish.
If you have something specific in mind, McDougall and Hills offer bespoke services on request. Dashing Tweeds recently collaborated with Radley to conjure up a Harris Tweed, which was woven by the Carloway Mill on the Isle of Lewis.
