Tough and girly, soft but edgy: True to its rocker heritage—U2′s Bono and his wife, Ali Hewson, are the African-focused label’s founders— EDUN brought the duality of the “EDUN girl” to life at its Spring/Summer 2013 show at New York Fashion Week on Saturday. Olive-drab patchwork fraternized freely with parachute silks in stylized camouflage while hand-crocheted patterns, inspired by urban grids, clung to swathes of broderie anglaise and combat organic cottons. The result was a world of contrasts, where intimacy is synonymous with utility and age-old techniques are urbane.
