Let the big-box stores have their Black Friday. Leave Cyber Monday to the titans of e-commerce.This Saturday, think small: small business, that is. For the third year, American Express is sponsoring “Small Business Saturday,” a day dedicated to supporting local, independently owned small businesses that create jobs, stimulate the economy, and invigorate neighborhoods across the country. Local tax revenue gets pumped back into things like infrastructure improvements, police, fire, and schools, which isn’t the case when you shop online. For folks in New York and New Jersey, it’s also the perfect way to help small shops get back on their feet in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
