Calling all philanthropic moms and the people who love them: Gucci has just released a functional and fashionable “Mamma” bag that will not only have you stepping out in well-equipped style but will also help eliminate HIV infections in newborns. For every limited-edition bag sold through June 15, Gucci will donate 25 percent of the retail price to UNICEF HIV and AIDS programs. (A single purchase funds enough HIV test kits for more than 200 expectant mothers). The Mamma bag allows “all those who would like to help make a difference in the lives of these families to contribute a gift that will have double meaning on Mother’s Day,” says Frida Giannini, creative director at the fashion house, which has pledged a minimum donation of $70,000. At Ecouterre, a double thumbs-up to that.
