BORN TO RIDE

“We are extremely excited about the H&M for Brick Lane Bikes collection,” says Feya Buchwald, founder of Brick Lane Bikes, in a press release. “Working with H&M to create clothing that mixes cycling with urban fashion is the perfect fit for us. It is exactly what we are about, and what we do best.”

The collection has “all the utility and function riders need, combined with a great sense of style, says H&M.

Peter Klussell, a designer at H&M, describes the collection as one with “all the utility and function riders need, combined with a great sense of style.” “We are thrilled to be making this collection with Brick Lane Bikes,” he adds. “Cycling is a global phenomenon, with so many men choosing to cycle both to commute and for pleasure.”

The H&M for Brick Lane Bikes collection will debut on March 7, 2013, both online and in 180 stores worldwide.

UPDATE | 2/12/13
A month ahead of the collection’s launch, H&M has revealed further details about the individual pieces. Its rider jacket, for instance, will comprise water-repellent yet breathable material, with ventilation holes under the sleeves and taped seams. It’ll also be cut longer at the back, with a back pocket and straps inside so it can be worn as a backpack.

Shirts will come quilted for colder days and in plaid designs with reinforced patches on the lower sleeves. The crewneck top will have a zip and ventilation holes, as well as sleeves cut for ease of movement. There will also be striped Henleys in cotton or wool, both cut longer at the back.

In terms of bottoms, the Brick Lane range will include a chino-style rider’s trouser cut for slightly bent knees, with a reinforced crotch and reflective tape seams on the inside cuff. Bike enthusiasts will also get a rider’s short and a striped cap for warmer weather.
