Designers are diving in to save the dolphins, thanks to the 2009 Academy Award-winning documentary, The Cove. Los Angeles designer James Perse has launched a comfy chic T-shirt line, with profits going to organizations who are working to save our Flipper friends. The Cove captures the progress of a team of activists, filmmakers, and free-divers as they work to uncover the harsh realities of the dolphin trade in a hidden cove in Taiji, Japan. While the film made its mark on public consciousness, the issue lives on and continues to demand attention. The Cove tees are available in men and women’s styles, but there’s a catch (if you’ll excuse the pun): The cotton is conventional, not organic. At prices like Perse’s and with so much at stake, would it have been so difficult to go with a greener option?
