Pursuing a degree in fashion and the environment from the London College of Fashion is bound to put you in contact with some creative and earth-conscious designers. Julia Elizabeth Crew first caught our eye with her master’s project, a collection of men’s bags and backpacks crafted from sustainable materials such as hemp, recycled leather, and cork. In the years since her graduation, Crew and a few of her fellow grads have set up Here Today Here Tomorrow, a sustainable fashion studio and shop in the heart of London.

MODERN MAKEOVER

Crew focuses on crafting women’s bags and accessories using reclaimed, secondhand, and end-of-roll materials, while her cohorts specialize in knitwear and screen-printing. The result of this creative collaboration is a shop that carries a diverse selection of pieces, including organic children’s aprons, funky knitted tops, and chunky jewelry made with foraged and found natural materials. Here Today Here Tomorrow also sells a line of fairly traded, hand-knit pieces from Nepal, co-designed exclusively for the store by the Association of Craft Producers of Kathmandu.

The shop carries a diverse selection of pieces from organic children’s aprons to chunky natural jewelry.

The shop’s wares are currently available online at Folksy, as well as its brick-and-mortar store in the Dalston district. If you happen to be in the area, be sure to drop by one of Here Today Here Tomorrow’s creative workshops to get hands-on instruction on the art of mending, knitting, dyeing, and more.
