Designer Kelly Lane isn’t one to shy away from color. For her eponymous label’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection, “Cosmos,” Lane imbues her pieces with an effortlessly sophisticated palette, using tones that range from the ruddy textures of a lunar landscape to the blinding center of a vibrant supernova.
“Cosmos,” Kelly Lane’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection, is inspired by Halley’s Comet and galaxies far, far away.
Inspired by Halley’s Comet, Cosmos features Tencel, a silky textile made from wood-pulp cellulose that retains its shape over time, as well as a textural hemp-and-organic-cotton blend and a double-sided fabric derived from organic cotton and recycled polyester.
Although influenced by space, each garment stays grounded by utilizing local resources and materials, along with processes that have minimal impact on both people and planet. Fresh from Kelly Lane’s first international show at Pret a Porter Paris—where it was met with rave reviews— Cosmos exemplifies the unique blends of color, silhouettes, and prints that its namesake is renowned for.
