For Michael Fassbender, two times the charm. The German-Irish actor, who snagged a Best Actor nomination for his role in Steve Jobs, arrived at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday wearing a black grain de poudre tuxedo designed exclusively by Tom Ford for the Green Carpet Challenge, an initiative co-founded by Eco-Age creative director Livia Firth to raise the profile of sustainable fashion on the red carpet. Derived from Oeko-Tex-certified, European-spun and -woven wool, and embellished with satin details, the suit marks Fassbender’s second turn at playing eco-ambassador.
The leading man first flew the flag for Firth’s Challenge at the 2012 British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, where he donned an ethical-wool tuxedo by Giorgio Armani.
“I am very excited to have two wonderful men supporting the Green Carpet Challenge at this year’s Golden Globes,” Firth said in a statement. “To kick the awards season off with both Tom [Ford] and Michael [Fassbender] and have them celebrate the seventh year of the Green Carpet Challenge rocks!”
