You might want to keep a barf bag and plenty of Kleenex handy; People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has revealed horrifying never-before-seen video of what goes on inside China’s fur farms. Narrated by The Newsroom actress Olivia Munn, the hard-hitting exposé opens with undercover footage of fur-farm workers restraining dogs’ heads in wire nooses and electrocuting them genitally with metal rods. Other workers are shown bludgeoning raccoon dogs, beheading rabbits, and ripping the fur of still-living animals as they writhe in pain.

HOUSE OF HORRORS

In another scene, workers are seen throwing cages crammed full of cats and dogs—many still the wearing the collars that hint at their domestic origins—to the ground, causing the animals’ bones to shatter.

“This new footage is one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever seen before,” says Munn.

“This new footage is one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever seen before,” says Munn, who recently appeared in PETA’s “Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign. “Anyone who wears fur or is even thinking about wearing fur should watch PETA’s video. It shows exactly where—and who—that coat or that ‘little bit’ of trim came from.”

Fur from China, she adds, is frequently mislabeled as fur from another species (or even as faux), which means you can’t always be sure whose fur you’re wearing. One thing’s for certain, however, is fur-farm violence. “There’s nothing good about pretending like you don’t know,” she says.
