Elizabeth Olsen’s entire design philosophy can be summed up in a single phrase: “Consciousness is the new hip,” a statement that is both a mantra for the longtime animal-rights advocate, as well as the grounding principle behind Olsenhaus, her vegan shoe collection. Although Olsen founded her label only last August, the former Calvin Klein and Nine West designer has rapidly distinguished herself in the cruelty-free arena with her sleek, sexy silhouettes and bold, sometimes unexpected, use of color.
For fall, Olsenhaus clads its boots, pumps, and flats in velvety microsuede, contrasting rich browns and blacks with pops of searing hot pink, magenta, and lime green hues. “Olsenhaus works to change the face of what a vegan person looks like,” Olsen says. “It is not the ’60s; it is hip and stylish to be knowledgeable about what is going on, and to work to make a difference without sacrifices. It is all about style, truth, and the shift in consciousness to a new luxury.”
Olsenhaus is all about style, truth, and the shift in consciousness to a new luxury.
With shoes like that, who can argue?
