Whatever you do, don’t call Osklen an eco-fashion brand, Oskar Metsavaht, the Brazilian label’s founder, tells Ecouterre backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Tuesday. Consider it instead a purveyor of luxury goods that happens to use ecological materials—fish leather and vegetable-dyed waste silk among them—and processes. “Endless Summer,” Osklen’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, captures the perfect summer’s day on Ipanema’s boardwalk, where “Brazilian soul meets California dreaming,” Metsavaht says. “The end result is neither retro nor futuristic. It is modern.” (Full review to follow.)
