P!nk would rather appear naked on a 90-foot billboard in Times Square than wear fur. She’s not kidding, either. The singer-songwriter is currently baring her tattoos in a giant display on Manhattan’s famed 42nd Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues. Shot by photographer Ruven Afanador for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the ad made its debut on Wednesday, just in time for the start of New York Fashion Week. “Animals are the purest spirits in the world,” P!nk, whose real name is Alecia Moore, says in a statement. “They don’t fake their feelings, and they are the most loyal creatures on Earth.”

IN THE PINK

The Truth About Love entertainer admits she wasn’t always so enlightened, however. “I would like to say I’ve always been fur-free so I could be proud of myself,” P!nk says. “Unfortunately, I went through a selfish phase and wore fur on a couple of occasions.”

Still, she says she “wised up” and now boycotts fur completely. “I wish everyone was forced to learn the horrors that these animals go through for fashion trends,” she adds. “I hope fur wearers get bitten in the ass by the same kind of animal they they wear on their back.”

Interesting. I’ve always admired Pink because she’s honest, up front, and speaks her mind. Even if I don’t always agree with what another woman says, I still appreciate her opinion and think she should express it. I honestly don’t wear fur and find it just as unappealing as Pink does. And I also think we should be more aware of how luxurious items are made before we purchase them.
