To say that Samantha Pleet’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection is epic isn’t a matter of hyperbole. Presented at the Wolverine store in Manhattan’s Lower East Side at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday, “Sands of Time” draws its cues from the ancient societies of the Fertile Crescent and the 19th century explorers who uncovered their stories. “I wanted pieces that could be displayed in a museum,” Pleet tells Ecouterre, describing her prints and silhouettes as “almost biblical” and “mythic” in nature.
