At the Deux FM runway show during New York Fashion Week’s the GreenShows, fans of the cheesy model reality show America’s Next Top Model were treated to a fun surprise as two finalists from Cycle 13 (the “petite” season) walked the runway: Laura Kirkpatrick and Jennifer An, who placed second and third, respectively. (Nicole Fox took the season’s top honor, in case you weren’t paying attention.)
THE SMEYES HAVE IT
I must have been the only diehard America’s Next Top Model fan in the audience, since no one else appeared to recognize the two models. Most of the audience and even the other models in the show had no idea what I was talking about—most gave me blank looks and said they never watched ANTM—when I grilled them later.
Okay, so apparently I am a big television nerd, and true fashionistas do not admit to watching ANTM. I must admit, however, that it was fun to see two people I followed obsessively on television in person. I am also happy to report that the two petite models, while thin, have more regular body types than most of the models you see walking catwalks these days, which was refreshing. Did anyone else in the audience make the ANTM connection? I would love to hear your thoughts!
