Stunning Upcycled Dress Made of Envirosax Bags Debuts at Sundance

To gives its reusable bags the fairy godmother treatment, Envirosax turned to Israeli designer Amit Ayalon, who recently graduated from the Australian Institute of Creative Design. The complete ensemble, made almost entirely of lightweight but durable polyester, comprises a jacket, Victorian-style corset, back scroll piece, bustle, and skirt.

Inspiration for the dress came from Moulin Rouge, Alice in Wonderland, and Sherlock Holmes.

Ayalon’s yen for costuming is apparent. “The warm brown, gold, and red colors dominating the prints remind me of the Moulin Rouge fashion,” she says. “Other sources of inspiration came from movies such as Alice in Wonderland and Sherlock Holmes.”
