If you happen to be flying through Heathrow airport and you’re fancy-schmancy enough to get into Virgin Atlantic’s Clubhouse Lounge, you can have your feet measured for a pair of made-to-order, perfect-fitting shoes. From now to April 18, Left Shoe, a Finnish bespoke men’s footwear label, is giving top-tier passengers a preview of its new 360-degree 3D scanner. The high-tech device logs not only your precise dimensions but also your choice of style (classic, modern classic, contemporary, or casual), material (calf, suede, or grain leather), instep width, and sole type. We’re pretty certain this will be your most pleasant scanning experience at an airport ever.
In less than 20 minutes, the device cranks out an exact digital model of your feet, which Left Shoe will use to hand-craft your shoes in four weeks or less. Left Shoe also keeps a record of your measurements, making future orders over the Internet a cinch.

For an even more personal touch, the shoes can be inscribed with your name, flight number, or destination. Because Left Shoe is strictly men’s only, however, lady-passengers are out of luck. Then again, there’s always the in-flight socks and fuzzy slippers.
